Description

Why is it that whenever you think you've figured yourself out, you turn out to be wrong?

Dead wrong.

That when you tell yourself that you can handle anything, you got this, and no matter what comes your way, you'll be ok because you've finally discovered your major strengths and weaknesses- it all falls to pieces?

And then there you are left to piece back together the person you thought you were. Only, you no longer like the person you were, or thought you were, or whatever. You like who you used to be. You want that person back. Except that person is so far gone you can't even see their lengthening shadow in the setting sun. And damn, is that sun setting fast.

So, what do you do now?

Give up? That person you knew is in the past. Take a lesson from The Lion King and move on. Create someone new and let what once was stay as a past tense. Who knows, maybe you'll like this new person you create. Maybe they'll be better than the past ones; different, sure, but still good. Hopefully.

Or...

Do you learn to see at night? To let the sun fall behind the ridge and keep on finding the pieces you completely forgot you had. Dust them off and take stock. Maybe throw out the bad ones, the habits you had learned to give up, but overall rediscover who you used to be. Rediscover what it was that made you love yourself in the first place.

Because isn't that the main reason you found yourself looking back into the past anyway? You missed who you were.

You missed you.
