Splinter of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Renaissance Project

Splinter is the teacher and father of the ninja turtles. Being an ordinary rat, he fell into the hands of a mysterious old sage named the Ancient One, who taught the beast the skills of ninjutsu. Then the Splinter fell into the hands of a young April O'Neil, who brought it to her father at TCRI so that he, along with four pet turtles, would keep the scientist company. During the fire in the laboratory that claimed the life of Dr. O'Neil, Splinter and turtles got out of the building and ended up in the sewer, where they came across mutagen waste that turned them into mutants.
