Really well done on this study, the lighting and shadows are painted well and the only thing I could add here would be more highlights on his helmet and a bit of more shading on the sword.

Very nice general colors in this. I like the cold gray blue. It seems to give it a more tense atmosphere. I think you also did a good job with the overall lighting. I especially like the armor. One thing I would like is if the dust rose up a bit more, but this is great work still!

I really like the general colour scheme of the painting, you kept it very uniform with shades of blue and it flows nicely. Your painting skills are way better than mine so I'm not really in a position to critique your techniques, but I admire how you coloured the armor, it's very realistic looking. What I would suggest is to improve on your gestures by doing some gesture drawings like the ones I posted. This is so that you can make the pose of the samurai much more dynamic, perhaps by making him swing his katana backwards, ready to slice someone. But overall, good work!

i actually do gestures sometime but most of the time im too lazy ^^
i didnt come up with the pose i had a reference for this one because i was just interested in rendering the metal right 
and if i can read right thats what you like ^^
