Performance model of the second generation TLX luxury saloon, marking the return of the Type S badge after 13 years.

In general, exterior design of the second gen TLX was derived from the Type S concept shown during Monterey Car Week back in August 2019. The silhouette featured bonnet sculpting and accent lines on the doors that flowed into larger rear wheel arches. The flowing roofline which extends almost to the rear edge of the short decklid gave a look akin to a fastback.

Under the bonnet was a turbocharged 3 litre J30AC V6 engine producing 355 hp and 480 Nm of torque via a 10-speed automatic transmission. All Type S models of the TLX were equipped with an SH-AWD system with 70% of the torque sent to the rear wheels.

Changes in the interior of the TLX with the Type S model featured Milano leather seats with ultrasuede inserts, as well as red accent stitching for the seats and throughout the cabin. A flat-bottom sport steering wheel, metal sport pedals, Type S sill plates, black headliner and patterned Aluminium Deco trim were also equipped. A 10.2 inch infotainment system sits on the center of the dash, controlled by the 'True Touchpad' interface in the centre console for navigation, infotainment, and vehicle functions.

The second gen TLX was built on a new dedicated platform with chassis and structure that increases torsional stiffness by 50%. Second only to the NSX, the platform for the TLX was the most rigid ever for an Acura. The chassis featured double wishbone front suspension and electro servo brake-by-wire technology derived from the NSX in addition to red Brembo 4 piston fixed calipers and 14.3 inch front discs. Aluminium bonnet and front fenders were for weight savings, whilst the battery mounted into the boot was for better weight distribution.
