Mixed Media. Painted with the GIMP and Xara Xtreme (for the tile floor, and door)
No stock. No this isn't a real person, but some family photo refs were used for the facial structures and door.

This is an internal illustration for my middle-grade (unpublished) novel, "Jack Boomershine and the Prophecy Untold". Read the excerpt below.

She was eccentric in every way. Her dark hair was so loosely curled that it spiraled away from her head in waves. Her muumuu lit with orchids in red, pink and yellow, and flowed in baggy ripples that trailed behind, tracing each change in direction as she had walked through the shop.

“Hell-oooo!” Her sing-song voice startled the two boys, and she gave them a slight bow. “I’m Madame Puffin, oh!”

Jack turned to face her. “Hi. Um, the sign says you’ll give eight free fortunes today?” Despite his heavy clothes, he was beet red from cold.

She laughed until her breath gave out. “Oh dear. Is that how it appears? Oh no, my dear. It says ‘B People,’ I fear. For does your name – either – begin with a B, or neither?”

The two boys glanced at each other. Jack worked out her question first. “Um. I’m a Boomer . . . er, well my name is Jack Boomershine.”

“Wonderful, young man. Then we shall proceed. Your fortune today I shall gladly read. Oh, heavens! One moment – nix it. I must take down that sign and fix it!” She shuffled to the front door and removed the sign from beneath the window curtain, and set it down absently, with no intention of ever using it again. It had served its purpose.
