Description Ola People

Well after being away for a while and having absolute no inspiration at all I was browsing the stock section of dA and found the X-men set by *kirilee and immediately some ideas sprang up in my mind while browsing through the pictures.
Spend around a week working on it. Pretty much every evening I had available. In total the artwork is made up of 190+ layers. A lot of time went into shading and lighting of the items floating into the air.
Also I know that the female version of Mephisto should be Mephista but I did not like the sound of that. I decided to stick to Mephisto. It is kind of a female mix between Magneto and Doctor Manhattan. It is the first time I have done a Superhero/villain kind of artwork and I did enjoy it very much.

As usual I have used a lot of stock and resources and below you will find a rundown of everybody I have used stocks or brushes from.

Impressive work with the atmosphere here, it has a very derelict and unsafe mood to it, also thanks to the chaotic movement of all the particles. It also somehow reminds me of Portal

Though if I had any advice, I think Mephisto could be centered a little better. She kind of merges with the canister beside her head and blends in with the BG a bit, but I still think it's admirable how many stocks you used and the piece in general

Thanks you for taking the time to write such a complete comment.

I can actually see where you are coming from with your comment re Mephisto. However.... For the life of me I cannot remember where I have the original PSD file. So it would be quite an easy fix. But I can't change anything untill I find it.

You're welcome, and I can understand that, my computer is getting pretty cluttered with Artworks, scraps and photos as well, so I hope you can find it

Wow! this is so cool (I can't believe I just said that, but it's true). I can see all of the hard work you put into this, and boy it was worth it. (it's Storm, it's Storm! In all of her glory!!)

This was an artwork that I really enjoyed working on. Yes cutting out every detail in the Artwork was a huge undertaking and I'm not even talking about lighting all the elements individually. All the color and shadow layers the painting but then again... When I look at the endresult I know for sure that not a single second was wasted during the creation of this artwork. Still one of my best (own opinion that is) and the fun thing is that even though I know the X men and the character of storm she was never meant to be Storm. Still it ended up looking a ridiculous lot like storm

Glad you like it

I could tell by the title that it was meant to be
Storm, but, like you said, it ended up looking like her, and that's NOT a bad thing.

Hehehe you have a point there. Well I have some good ideas that I will definately have to execute to get rid of the horrible Gathering artwork that has been haunting my mind for the last weeks. More will follow.

I know what you mean about ideas haunting your mind. I have a lot of ideas for certain stock I've been downloading lately (not sure if they'll look like I intended, but I do have the ideas) that I have to pull myself back from doing all of them one after the other so that I don't overrun deviants on my watch with my stuff, or overrun the groups I belong to. People will get sick of looking at me!

DemonOfSarila [2010-08-17 13:58:02 +0000 UTC]

actualyl sorta reminds me of Storm. anyway, she looks kinda short, like her body/legs should be a bit longer for her arms/head. the flying stuff looks good to me.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

rblokker In reply to DemonOfSarila [2010-08-17 14:16:31 +0000 UTC]

Even though it looks like it there is no link with this artwork and the X-men. I simply wanted to make a sort of evil supervillain or somebody with superpowers. Mephisto was the name that stuck.
As for her body. It looks like that. From my memory I have not done much to the original stockphoto in that aspect. No heavy deforming or so. I think I leave it this way. I consider the artwork done but thanks for noticing though.
And thanks for the compliments as well.

DemonOfSarila In reply to rblokker [2010-08-17 14:42:29 +0000 UTC]

she just reminds me of storm, or storm's powers I should probably say, storm always controlled them.doesn't really mean she has much to do with her. I would just watch for that in future, you don't have to edit it to make the body longer or something. I would say it's done too. and it's no problem

Nice, Very Nice. Thanx for sharing the links to the stock. I am a beginner photoshop user and I like to make photomontages, so therefore I like to study other peoples work a lot and it helps if the stock is available. By the way, you from S.A.??
