The Buboc is a worldwide species, ranging from the Arctic to the outer Antarctic circle. The specific type pictured here is a female Rufous-tailed Buboc, which lives on snowy, northern mountains. Bubocs are descended from the Barn Owl. They are named for their booming lek calls. Bubocs live in flocks of eight to fifteen birds; and each flock has a territory of about three square miles. Bubocs nest in dead trees. They have a clumsy flight ability. They mainly eat grass shoots and berries, but occasionally snack on small mammals and carrion. Buboc males are passive towards each other except during breeding season, where they fight fiercely with their long spurs. Bubocs sometimes fall prey to Obcisors, which swoop down from the sky and ambush the juevenile Buboc. Bubocs are about 3.5' in height and about 4' in length, with a 5.5' wingspan.
