Description
The tale of the Fire Knights known as the Steadfast was used as a cautionary one, against those who claim to follow their heart but do not achieve civilized results. The Knights' Council developed a practice of self-observance bordering on paranoia after their re-founding because of them.I had paints left, so I scraped them into my sketchbook with a palette knife and drew over that with pen brushes. The atmosphere here is just fantastic. I love the contrast between dark and light, between hot and cold. I love the smoke and the shadows and especially the embers.
The body language is great, too. Everyone looks a little apprehensive, but each knight seems to have a distinct personality: One guy has a fighting stance, another is trying to show some swagger, and the third is proud but cautious.Β And there are probably a lot of other ways to read those poses. I love when there's a little implied story that's left largely up to viewer interpretation.
My only quibble is that the guy on the right seems a little unbalanced, like he's about to fall forward.

Thanks a lot, it was a nice surprise how well it turned out. I suppose concentrating on this one moment was helpful, I normally drift off into worldbuilding while I paint these pieces.
I am working hard on my tiny people (that's what I call these figures that are often there only for scale. Man, they can climb anything!) so I will call these successful - even if that guy might just fall over from the hot fumes
