Description

There are actually two principal PoDs behind this post:

  • The term "Netherlands"/"Belgium" would remain synonymous to each other; in such scenario, the ATL Netherlands/Belgium is equivalent to OTL southern Netherlands, all of the Flemish region (including an ATL Brussels where Dutch remained the principal language), French Flanders, western half of Hainaut province and the whole Kleverlands. By the way, the reason behind this ATL definition is the existence of a stronger and more cohesive Frisia, which include a more vibrant (ATL) Frisian language.
  • The so-called "Brabantic expansion" from its eponymous neighbor (County of Brabant) was successfully stopped at the regions of Waasland and Denderstreek, thus the rest of OTL East Flanders (Zeelandic Flanders included) shared the same dialect as their western counterparts.
Indeed, the (ATL) province of Flanders wasn't just composed of OTL West Flanders and most of East Flanders, but also the whole French Flanders as well. In addition, the said province had also acknowledged its historical status as a county, which is reflected in its coat of arms: The crown of a count at the top of the yellow shield containing the Flemish lion (both elements courtesy of Tom Lemmens )
