William has been living under pressure, being the heir to the throne of the Choco Kingdom. If only he were born in a traditional Choco royal family, maybe then there wouldn't be too much pressure to act perfectly. But there's nothing one can do about that now. He wouldn't change his family.
From an early age, he's learned to keep his emotions at a minimum in order to please others. Keep your emotions in check. Can't be a ruler when you're ruled by your emotions. At least, enough emotion can be shown so the people can acknowledge he's not a brick - gotta keep good standing with the citizens! That'll probably be his saving grace.
