Description
Here is the finalized pencil design for the Paisley Dragon. My inspiration comes from many different sources: paisleys from India and areas of SE Asia generally, dragon and lion designs, and tattoos, from Bali and Indonesia, and flowers. Oddly, the traditional paisley designs I used as a point of reference all seemed to have similar abstract flowers worked into the interiors. I looked into flower symbolism - not deeply - just some general Googling for resources that caught my eye, which also had meanings that I thought my commissioner would enjoy. I ended up using something like hellebore (sarcasm) and mandrake (horror). The flowers, leaves, and buds are heavily stylized.

Next, I will ink this monstrosity. Color comes later, then cutting-out, then assembling stones, shiny bits, and other background elements.
