Description And yes! I decided to make a tutorial on how to create a pixel avatar for dA or any other purpose!

I have been meaning to do this for a very long time now, as I have been asked a lot to show or tell people how to make these. I really felt bad not being able to do this in the past, but now I found some time to make this and share the knowledge!

In this case you will see it is a 50x50 icon, so it's dA standards and also under 15KB in size! That way you can use your newly created icon as your dA icon and be proud to show it to the world~

Now I need to ask something from you too...

Please don't take this and present it as your own. Do not re-upload or edit in any way

Your tutorial was really helpful and I tried it out today, I made it a little bigger than 50x50 due to practicing... this is what came out:     I still need to practice more (especially with the speed of the animation), but I thank you very much for your work in creating this tutorial

Well if you are only just starting out, it will take some time before you actually find your style and such but you can experiment with a little brighter colours, darker or lighter outlines etc.


My suggestion would be to just keep trying and keep your style! The only thing I would improve is maybe the face? It looks a bit big, or maybe the eyes and mouth look all gathered in the middle. Other than that the pixeling looks good and I like the hair and the expression of the face!


If you feel like you need to, take a browse around the dA deviantavs gallery and you will find many different styles out there. By closely wathcing (but not copying!) other people's work you develop your own style!
