Description Write.

What?

Write about what makes you happy, what pisses you off, what turns you on, what makes you scream, what makes you laugh, what makes you cry.

Write what enrages you and what ennobles you.

Write about what you believe in... what starts in your gut, gains force in your heart, travels through your brain and ends up in your fingers.

Write about your passions, your heroes, your protests and your causes.

Write about your dreams and your nightmares. Sometimes, they’re one and the same.

Write about those you’ve loved, the ones that loved you, and the ones that got away.

Why?

Because words are like music. They have rhythm and pitch and harmony and melody. They can bring us to our feet in triumph, or send us to our knees in defeat.

Because all words, good or bad, blend together in a symphony that can only be described by the word "life".

Because if you don’t write about what you’ve seen, what you want and who you are, someone else will do it for you, and you will have lost more than ink on paper.

Because when we stop recording, stop inventing, stop telling stories, stop arguing, stop imagining, stop dreaming... we will simply... stop.

Because from the divinely inspired parchment of the psalmist, to the darkened nib of Shakespeare, to the glowing of cathode rays, words are the most powerful medium imaginable.

But most of all... because words open doors to other ideas, other worlds, other realities, and most importantly- other people... and other hope.

After those two things, what else do we have?

Write.

"what starts in your gut, gains force in your heart, travels through your brain and ends up in your fingers"

gooood stuff, i instantly pictured a ray of red energy coursing through one's body, a supernatural force. this is a really great piece, a call of carpe diem to the "bathtub" writers, as i like to say. thanks for your comments, man. they'rea lways sincerely appreciated.
