The first child of Twilight Sparkle and Flash Sentry. The two had been married for a while before they divorced, but they still keep in touch and are good friends. Nebula was their first born. Several years later, Twilight married Starlight Glimmer, and their daughter, Morningstar, was born.

Nebula is an introverted wreck of a pony. He has only a few good friends, those being his cousin Rainbow Quartz, Anubis, and his pegasus buddies Robin, Autumn, and Ace. He's inherited his father's pegasus genes, and his mother's alicorn wingspan. Because of this, Nebula has a large wingspan, which allows him to glide more and flap his wings less.

Nebula has a complicated relationship with his younger half-sister, Morningstar. Since she's a unicorn, Twilight and Starlight tend to pay more attention to her, especially since she gets a lot of her magic lessons from her moms. It doesn't help that Morningstar isn't very good at conversation, so her attempts to sound supportive or impressed usually end up sounding insincere or condesending.

Nebula, Ace, and Robin have been friends since they were little. The three colts formed their own "pegasus club" where they would spend time hanging out or helping each other practice their flying. Nebula has something of a crush on Ace, but has no idea how to go about telling him. Robin knows about Neb's crush and often encourages him to confess to Ace already.

Autumn Belle is Nebula's honorary big-sister figure, and is highly protective of him. Rainbow Quartz is the youngest of Shining Armor & Cadence's kids, so she ends up spending the most time with her cousins. She's highly supportive of Nebula and the two often write/vent to each other about their problems. Through this friendship, Neb was introduced to Anubis, who loves to tease him about his boy troubles.
