Description
Costume is a work-in-progress, based on my own original species. (Info here .) I only did the face makeup here, because I was just playing around (hence the lolfence), but the finished product will include darkened arms as well as face, scarring on the forearms, more jewelry, and inked teeth.Suggestions are welcome, of course.
CRITIQUE:
If you critique, don't bother with the quality of the photography. It's just me and my point-and-shoot playing around in the back yard. I'm a lot more interested in makeup, character design, and costume concept.

As a sci-fi fan, I see this person you are portraying as having some cultural reasons to dress in a Terran Berber manner. I like the look, just one question, is the "insect" at your bottom left seam of your hood real or a piece of jewelry?
I might call this look a "Space Corsair" after the corsairs from northern Africa or the Mediterranean.

Actually, my inspiration came more from some strange fusion of Tuareg and Kurdish cultural costume - loosely, of course; I don't want to offend anyone by claiming authenticity where there is absolutely none. 
The species in question originally came from a mostly-desert planet and split their lives between seafaring and nomadic land life. When they made it into space, the fashion remained mostly unchanged, despite the lost utility.
The insect is, ah... An insect, apparently. Didn't know he was there!
