Description
In the peaceful Astral Age, the threat of Great Beast attack has minimized while supervillains have filled the void in the cities. But in the wild outskirts, even the safest traveling routes now risk attack from Natan pirates. One such crew is led by Captain Hadal, also known as the Deep Demon. With a sharp mind hidden behind a duel-loving bravado, this Natan criminal leads a loyal team of fellow Natan (and one Hafjin) to raid not just shipping vehicles across oceans but also excavate wrecks and ruins for high paying clients. Hadal is one of the lucky few that is also captain of a powerful Hafjin bioship, a boon that has allowed this pirate band to survive and thrive longer than many of their bioship-less brethren.

Hadal's Astral Drift is "Volt Dance". This simple ability allows Hadal to generate an electric field around his body. The voltage from exposed flesh can escalate to degrees capable of stunning and even killing a man, and in water the field's zone of influence increases dramatically. Physical exertion helps keep a charge, allowing Hadal to keep a field up for an extended period in a fight. While the range of potential damage from the electricity is fairly small, the field actually reaches much farther at safer, static-inducing levels. Hadal's aura is intertwined with this field, generating a sensory map zone around him more advanced than even some Aural masters of the senses, giving Hadal a precognitive "shark sense" to incoming danger. To get the full effect of his abilities, Hadal strips down to his pants in combat when possible (and most especially in duels where he rallies his crew's morale with his high win rate).

Hadal's most notable crewmembers are Sheela the lionfish Natan cook, Fatima the pilot of his bioship Qarash, and Cleaner the engineer.
