BLUNT - the rest of pictures on my website
15 concepts which influence our lives, concepts often plagued by unhealthy preconceptions.
The details of this project are in Romanian on my website and so, I will translate them here. First, however, let me give you some context. This was my second exhibition ever, the first one outside of where I was born and with a big audience since it was during an Art Festival.
The 15 concepts are below and the pictures within this post represents the concept of "Pleasure"
Time: Time is an illusion and that's why we always have enough time to do what doesn't truly serve us as human beings and too little time to care about how we waste. We often realize when it's too late and the comfort of drowning in your own regrets is real. See, the problem is that ever since we are born we are assigned to be something and someone that's already predefined at least superficially. Imagine if we'd have enough time to discover ourselves, without having to chip in bits of hours for personal epiphanies and then choose in what way to be a part of society.
Family: When you become a parent, your responsibility is to help this creature become an appropriate exemplary of the human species. I am especially using these words because other emotionally dysregulated excuses disgust me, e.g: having a child to save a relationship, considering having a child a life achievement - it's alive - it's not a reward. You can be grateful that your child is healthy and that you're not a shit parent, but whatever is alive, is not an award. I'll give more examples: wanting a family so you'll have someone to take care of you when you're old. Like, if they want to that's fine, but people don't owe each other anything and they should not have that expectation. And if your next thought is: children have to support their parents because they took care of them, bla, bla. No. The parents DECIDED to bring a life into this world. That soul did not choose. There are only two kinds of obligations. First, there are those to yourself and secondly, there are those for others. Those others include literally others, from the dearest to the worst, you'll never be able to help your dearest truly, if you don't take care of yourself and if you let others, no matter who they are take advantage of you because supposedly your bond should grant you this. A genuine bond will not require this.
Education: The neglect of real education begins and home and continues at school. It's been a vicious circle perpetuated for many years. The stupid educated the idiots. These idiots became leaders, teachers, doctors, whatever. If you put shit in, only by mistake and luck you'll get something good out. You have to start putting good stuff in. For this reason, the only valuable lesson we receive from this force-feeding excuse of an education, is: If from a young age you develop a sense of questioning everything and becoming your own teacher by learning how to filter everything and then search - find - and select more advanced ways to cultivate yourself, you'll be good. Otherwise... look outside.
Truth: Truth doesn't wear masks, it cuts clean, like a high quality blade, having the ability to rip the most sensitive chords. But see, that's just how it is supposed to be. The more you feel it hurts you, trust that it is because you've been living too much in other people's delusions.
Consumerism: At first we started to create in order to live as part of nature. Then, when we met comfort, we brought our own creations to nature and decided that we will be the Dominatrix in the relationship. Only that, nature does not exist within our laws of being. We ended up being enslaved by what we created. This enslavement ripped the understanding nature gave us (of what it means to be free) and replaced it with filling the void. We're living only on empty calories because we forgot how to work with nature for survival. Refusing to believe that our intelligent creations couldn't figure it out. Our creations can only be as efficient as us. Now, we live in an era where we worship them. What about us?
Pleasure: Drowning into the fear of the unknown is something each of us has felt. The anxiety you get when having a conscious grip of the fact that right now you might be in the most "taboo" moment of your life. How that keeps you from getting help when needed or how much it keeps you from exploring its depths because of society's rules set in blood. I believe that we live, like we agree to and don't suicide, because of pleasure. If your existence would be entirely stripped of pleasure, I wouldn't get to the end of this phrase because everybody would've already nuked the whole planet. This is why conditioning how much people have access to exploring the immense world of pleasure is efficient at shaping society, only, the casualties of that are worth it only for a few.
Religion vs Faith: I think that Religion is made to control the hoard. You know like the host of an event? God is the main act and people are well, the public being instructed when to laugh. Faith's something intimate which doesn't make you want to shove it down somebody's throat like you even have the iQ to understand the meaning of life. Faith drives you to enlighten yourself spiritually, share with the curious and mind your own business. Religion is politics for those who like fairy tales because it makes them feel less responsible.
Self: If you want to be free, find out who you are and who you want to be, no matter against who's bullshit and entitled cadaver you'd have to walk over. Liberty starts with you and does end when it infringes another. This is why you have to learn the nuances of self-defense and self-respect. You have to make sacrifices and compromises. These are ways to give back to the flow that will carry you where you need to be and to who you need to be. Get the fuck up and go. Anywhere. That's the first step in thinking for yourself, deciding where you'd actually feel like going.
Little Things Every piece of cloth is made of millions? of strands, every beach in endless grains of sand. Everything, has a discrete foundation which brings it all together. Take this from life and add gratitude to the little things. What comes in a blast ends fast, what grows constantly, what manifests constantly, can become anything.
Beauty vs Ugliness: I think that beauty and ugliness are as relative as good and evil. I always wanted to ask a person who really invests in their appearance - to align it with the beauty standards - if they are happy that they don't look exactly like the standard of beauty? That it's a "job" for which you have to put an effort in every day? See, I have my style and I totally get the matters of aesthetic preferences, but I chose them to send a message? They have nothing to do with my perception of beauty and I hope I do not sound judgemental, but I'm just curious because, of course I'm not within the beauty standard either. It's just that, to me, that always brought comfort? Because I don't have to bother with anything? I only have to think about being healthy. So what is it like, on the other side? Where does the satisfaction come from, if in depression this stands so high?
Judgement: It's really easy to judge others or to think that a more critical mind is judging, when it is only a matter of curiosity which requires understanding. I think that all of us judge and that's because no matter how at peace, there's always gonna be a mark on us, people, who will refrain us, at least at first in accepting to be open to understanding concepts sometimes alien to our way of being. May it be fear or satisfaction (e.g.:I know/have all I need to, I don't need more) or others, it doesn't matter. The point is that as long as you live, you'll never be done - even if you will want to. Resisting that is refraining your evolution.
Influence: I am aware of the unfortunate cards a lot of people we're dealt by fate to play in this life, yet I can't stress this enough. You can always overcome your condition. Always. Sure, you cannot entirely change your upbringing, but your future can be painted in totally different colors than your past. It's all a matter of influence. We are continuously influenced and are continuously influencing, find your frequency and never let it go! You don't even have to believe in it. Just toss a little bit every day in it and something will happen.
Trust: I hate this bullshit. Expecting to be able to trust somebody unconditionally all the time, means expecting somebody to be perfect. Because only whatever is perfect does not make mistakes and perfection doesn't exist. Yes some people are scum and others are treasures, putting this pressure on people who you consider "treasures" will make you mistake scums for treasures and vice versa often. Nobody can always be trustworthy, but each of us can work on better understanding our limitations so that we are untrustworthy as little as possible.
Sexuality: Sex and love don't come hand in hand, but they do hang out sometimes and in the happiest cases they decide to stay together. When sex and love meet, the only way for it to work is if they are understood and respected. Whatever inhibitions people have are society's ways to condition pleasure and our understanding of it. We are society. We condition our own pleasure because of an unhealthy coping mechanism that's triggered when we're dealing with something unknown or taboo.
Death: When somebody dies we first suffer because of selfishness, then because of compassion. Here I will refrain from commenting further. Death is a matter I'd love to write a book on, maybe, one day. I can't deal with death snowflakes on the internet and I'm sure they cannot deal with me, either.
Ok, I ended up writing a more detailed project description in this post, than the original. Guess I'm pretty inspired today 😂 will add it to my website as well, at some point.
