Description This turned out to be a lot harder than i expected. Really tough to get the shadow, and light patterns on the body to look right. The grain of the paper didn't help, wish i'd used smoother paper.

Time - 15 hours 9B to 5H on 140gsm A4 paper

The shape on the animals body from the light in the water's surface! Great job here!

This one is cool!

You have really managed to get the shadows and the light to look alive. I'm especially impressed by the light patterns; the way it's playing over the body of the whale have such a realistic feeling. It's easy to imagine that it looks like that when it's in water ^^

And I like the angle of the whale, too. It's so easy to see the form of the whale, and how it thickens a bit at the stomach area and then gets thinner. Personally I would find this quite difficult to do since I probably would mess up the whole angle/"whale-form" area and not be able to make a smooth transition. But you have clearly managed to do that ^^

And I can't help thinking of the falling whale in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy when I see this pic

Thank you very much again This was a tricky one,Think it would look better with water in the back ground, but I'm happy with the way it turned out

This is wonderfully done. I can totally buy the light reflection. It truly looks as if it is under water.

Cool! This rocks!
Really good technique here in getting these values down right.
I use Fabriano Artistico, 140 LB Hot Press Watercolor Paper, with good results. Although it is not so easy to manipulate the graphite.
This is a really good and solid piece of work!
