"I know Hades abducted her, did a couple of nasty things to her + of course tricked her to eat the seeds of pomegranate."
Those are not the facts and you don't show anything to prove that.
hi-its-kaye.tumblr.com/post/16β¦ You also don't explainΒ on why it would be realistic to have Hades rape her... although, maybeΒ I don't want to know from someone who thinks like that.

Your traditional art is great. The simple colour-concept suits the subject and the dynamics as well.
Let's hope she was happy and simply used the "naive maiden" image to get what she wanted . . .

I always thought of it as a stockholms syndrome thing. I think its ok to appreciate the mental dynamic of two people in that sort of relationship. Especially in that time period where such things are common and the woman would be blamed for for being weak.
It may be crule to say, but she was lucky in a way. Her captor, while still a horrible person for doing that, is kind to her.

Pretty sure he didn't trick her. The idea that this goddess didn't know the basic rule even mortals knew about eating the Underworld food is silly and implies she's seriously an idiot. Pretty sure she went willingly. Beautiful picture.

This has always been my favorite myth even before Eros and Psyche. Beautiful contrast between her light and his dark boading. That little splash of color really helps make everything else pop. Not to mention all the little details. I only wish you were somehow able to show the missing seeds in his pomegranate. We can always overlook the little bad things because he's still better than Zeus who's always in heat.

I'm actually a bit ashamed to admit that I didn't come to think of the missing pomegranate seeds. Damnit. xD Thank you however for your comment and compliments!

Absolutely lovely. I think I like the concept of your other one better, but this scene is wonderful in its own right. I love the body language--how tightly Hades holds on to her, and how she buries her face in his chest. Gorgeous.

You don't know the story how Hades abducted Persephone to the underworld??

Puistopulu In reply to RedPassion [2011-11-21 16:17:28 +0000 UTC]
Well I can tell you the short version. Persephone, daughter of Demeter the goddes of Harvest, was picking up flowers on a field when the ground opened and Hades abducted her in the underworld, because he had an eye on her.
Demeter searched and searched for her daughter, and in her sorrow she didn't less the harvets, which of course died.
At last, Zeus the god of thunder and sky, and the father of the lost girl, had to ask Hades to let Persephone go. She wasn't supposed to eat anything while in the land of the dead, because that would bound her there.
Hades made Persephone eat a bite of an pomegranate, so she would be bound to him and she would have to return to him.
That is how winter was born, The seeds she swallowed are symbol to the winter months when Demeter mourns for her daughter. That's when Persephone is the queen of the underwold and with her husband. at the summer time the nature is green and fruitful when Persephone is with her mother.
There are several versions of the story, that's the "romantic" one. In some more realistic version Hades raped (etc.) her after abducting.

I probably have gotten your last note, but i have had a whole bunch of notes in these last few days, so i have to check again. I am having a hard time drawing here, inspiration has left the building and i hope it will come back, or else I will start a project and go look for it in new songs :''D

I decided to take a small break on HP-art for this evening atleast, and finish a small OC comic I made a long while ago.
I Listen almost anything (Rap and such crap doesn't count). Mostly I have this one song i play in my player all over again untill I move to next song. that is how the music works for me as an inspiration.
