Saw-Whet owls have the uncanny ability to focus their stare on something and not let their gaze go until they absolutely must. The fact that they can rotate their heads so far helps them immensely in this.
This owl was 100% fixated on me, even with the camera in front of my face and even being turned upside down, so his feet could be examined, did not dissuade him.

Saw-whets are possibly *the* cutest thing on the planet. They can make a grown man do the fangirl squeal.
