This piece turned out to be a biatch to make. It gave me so much trouble yet i finally got around it.

After looking at my recent art, i've noticed that i've really started going down hill with my development. I hit a high point of art developing, then suddenly i started falling down hill. And now personally i feel like i've reached a n00b level of creation. And it annoys me. I mean, look at this piece compared to my bigger stuff, it doesn't compare. The terragen render is awesome, then the sky is too simple.

The terragen render took me 3 bloody tries to get it finished. One time i spent about 13 hours rendering the thing. It was just over 3/4's the way through, then my computer overloaded because i was trying to talk to people, watch movies etc and surf the web. My computer couldn't handle it and just shut down. I was sooooo pissed. Then i let it do its stuff at 1:30, woke up at 9 and the thing only rendered like 2 inches on the screen!

Finally i took one setting off and tried my final time and it rendered double the speed. In all it took me about 7 hours to complete. The final resolution was 3500x5000 pixels. After spending an hour in ps editing the render. I resized it to show a friend. Got back, and i saved it over the original psd and shut the program down. It was 22x32 inches at 150 dpi, now i'm stuck with the same dimensions at 72 dpi. So unless i do the whole thing over again theres not much change of print.

The sky ended up looking very cosmic, every piece now days is just planet here, planet there. And its basically all you can do. I decided to try stick a nebula in the distance to see what it looked like. And turned out pretty good.

Well, hope you guys enjoy my seemed disaster piece lol.

mmm... nice render, but not liking the planet too much... the colours clash horribly at the horizon with the planet there, the reds and blues. the nebula is cool but it kinda just ends ubruptly and sits there alone, likes its a bit out of place... and those brighter stars around and them plain comets just dont cut it for me

never settle for something your not happy with mate... its the reason ive moved on from posting every little bitch piece i made and working on something untill i was completely satisfied with it, the reason i came back to devart again... but youve probably heard this before so meh...

keep it up

Brillant piece, i think it's by far one of your best! the space part is great, not busy and clutted like some, and of course the render is great! so a definate fav, but i think the "land" would look better with out the water, it reminded my of mars unitl i saw that, but still looks great!

Love the terragen, but then the landscape seems to blend to sharply into the spacescape. The neb looks pretty sweet and original but the comets look pretty bland, nice to see some new stuff regardless.

i have to agree with you man...the terragen part is really stunning, the spce part ain't amazing though...it doesn't have the magic of space awesome level of detail as always, but i think there's something missing...hope to see more from you soon...i'm sure you'll amaze me with the next one

Stunning bro. That terragen render is flawless and I love how it looks downward and once you scroll up, it seems like you're turning your head upwards to the sky. The space part is equally stunning, I was renderind a big piece and my computer shut down as well...sucked......

I really like the surface map of the terrain but i think theres too much of a downpitch and makes the perspective feel odd for me. The planet work and all are nice but i dont really like how the planet was blended into the atmophere esp the portion near the center where it seems cut-off like that. Still overall i like the quiet-moody-mejestic feel of this piece. Certainly better than what i do anyways.

If your talking about how the planets bottom half looks like its been cut off, then your wrong. Due to the horizon, the planet will look like that, and you can see it on many other accurate pieces too. Yet if you didn't mean this then, ok lol

i see some issues with the terrain is seems too simple? Maybe its lacking some atmosphere perspective? I think the hills on the left side seem too clear. Is this just me? Otherwise damn this piece is amazing.

yeaaaah you know it's sexy, definately the better of your recent works like you've said. Great planet work and subtle space backing, the transition is done nicely, the gradient is just right. In all, great image, i think the less than usual colour combination really tops it off.

(sorry if this sends more than once, DA is being a bitch with comments as it stands).
