Red is the trainer you use on the first games and protagonist of the Pokemon manga. According to the story, he becomes the champion of Kanto, evolves all his pokemon but pikachu, and is challenged by Gold (I dunno if he's beaten lorewise). Ash/Satoshi is based on Red, only present on the anime.
