Sorry that it's a photograph! My scanner is broken. :cAnd the torn edges haha! I ended up getting more invested in it than I thought.
I spent about 6 hours on this and of course it's Gerard Way. The lovely human being that he is.

Such a soulful portrait of Mr. Way; while the colourwork and texture (esp. like the contrasts of the rich jacket & hair tones b/w more plain-based skin-tone, it brings pop-art to mind) the forms and overall composition may be rough but it actually helps add a very earnest feel, once can feel each stroke of gouache across the paper canvas here. Something about his expression & amber eyes are just haunting & captivating here.
It's very sad to see MCR breakup, this is a heartfelt tribute to them & their creative legacy.

They were and always will be my absolute favorite band. They're my boys! Haha!
They've inspired so much of what I do, just so many smaller facets of my interests.
I'd been listening to them since I was maybe 9 years old in 4th grade, and I'm now going into 12th. I grew up with them, I guess.
I'm especially happy to hear that you like his eyes! They're so mystifying in real life. I was worried I wouldn't be able to do them justice, so thank you!

Yeah, while on contrary I'm not really a huge fan of them there's something that I respect about MCR and it's their creative drive & devoted effort, they were way beyond broad terms as emo or punk. I was quite motivated by them time to time so hope the members will continue to be active in some way...
Yes, the way Gerard's eyes and overall expression you realized here has this mysterious yet captivating air about it, something which full Professional art or glossy magazine photos of him can't really emulate. So Thanks a Lot again for sharing this soulful piece!
