I used to be one of those 'purists' who didn't want to see non-Nintendo characters in Smash but then I changed my mind and I'm receptive to the idea. That said, I don't want it to become a third-party free-for-all so I treated third parties as a franchise in itself and only added one to my roster.Of course, there are plenty of third partiers I'd love to see playable: Megaman, Bomberman...if MvC can have Phoenix Wright then just imagine how amazing it would be to have Professor Layton in Smash!
Still, I think my choice is a fair and worthy one...

Of course now we'v got the people asking why Sonic doesn't have a Shadow costume and a Silver costume and basically every other Sonic character as a costume which...isn't really the point!

Yeah. If you`re gonna add two sonic reps to your roster, It`s only fair if you add two Pac man reps, Megaman reps, MGS reps, ECT....

I couldn't telly you haw thrilled I was to hear about both of these when Brawl was in development, admittedly.

Yeah, it was about the time I realised this was this only way we were going to get a proper Mario vs. Sonic that I started being receptive to the idea!

I'm actually pretty pleased with that Snake, even now! I don't know why, perhaps because I was taking a realistic character and making it cartoonier and most fan art I do is of already cartoony characters?

I just love his goofy, awkward pose and perfectly flat chin. He seems to have this whole air of "What the hell am I doing here?" Which, of course, is the same attitude that makes him so funny in Smash Brothers, so it's perfect!

I was stoked to have Sonic in Brawl and almost always played as him. That aside, Smash needs MegaMan Classic or X. I'll be happy with either one. And Rayman.

I'm not a fan of Rayman (that's not to say I dislike him, I've never played any of the games so can't have an opinion) but since his rejuvination - and massive popularity - recently there's definitely a chance!
Capcom have been getting pretty diverse with their Megaman cameos lately: Trigger, Zero, that other version of Zero but the classic guy hasn't been seen for a while. I think since the original games were ifrom the NES era and were made relevant again recently with MM9 and 10 I'd prefer to see Classic playable since he's the quintessential Megaman but really any acknowledgement would be fine!

Hey, classic MegaMan would be perfectly fine with me. Though one of the character I really would flip to see in the new game is Shantae. Personally, I think she'd fit way better than Sonic and would be ok with him being replaced by her.

I had heard of Shantae but had to do a bit of sleuthing. Seems she was made by WayForward but published by Capcom, so they might have the rights to her and I've played at least one WayForward game so I know they make good games.
Unfortunately though I think it's a long shot, Capcom are much more likely to push one of their massive stable of characters, but don't give up hope! You never know! She might at least appear as a trophy or something.

See, I thought it was weird at first when they added Snake, but I wanted Sonic ever since Sonic Adventure 2 ended up being ported to the Gamecube so when Snake was announced, I was pretty certain that opened the door for Sonic so I was all good.
I don't want them to overpopulate the game either, though. I really just want Mega Man and Professor Layton and then I'll be good. I think a Square rep makes more sense than Layton myself but I don't want Cloud, I'd rather Chocobo but he'll never be playable so whatever, I want Layton instead.
I love the way you drew Snake here. So goofy, yet so manly.

Well some Final Fantasy characters have appeared alongside the Mario crew so something like Black Mage or Moogle might be a bit more likely?
I think an awful lot of people are hoping that if Square gets their oar in that Geno will make an appearance. I'd say that's wishful thinking though.
As Sakurai made a tiny hint at Capcom I'd like to think, since Megaman's recent mistreatment he might get the call for this.

Geno's never coming back, I'm afraid. I'd love to see him in Smash but as much as I'd love to see it, he doesn't really deserve it. He's a one off character from over 15 years ago.
Mega Man just makes the most sense to me. The franchise started on the NES and was prominent on pretty much every Nintendo console up until Capcom stopped caring about Mega Man all together.

Yeah a Classic Megaman would be perfect, though I can't really figure out how his copy system would work. It might just be like his MvC days where he already comes equipped with a few Master Weapons and cycles between them.

Snake in Brawl is a great little love story. Kojima begged Sakurai to let him in on the action in Melee, but it was too late in the production. I think it's great how the series creator considers him a Nintendo character, even though most of his games have been on other systems. But his first was on the NES, which Sonic can't claim the same, so get them off the same team what are you thinkinggg

And even then the NES was such a butchering of the original MSX version Kojima made a point that it didn't match his vision (he wasn't involved in the porting.)
So he's a pretty lucky guy! But this is not a suitable argument for Banjo-Kazooie.
