Adult Buttercup with Ace from the Gangreen Gang. Okay, okay, I know he was a jerk to her in "Buttercrush," but in my story they are both adults now and have reconciled. I feel like Ace, and the Gangreen Gang, are another case of characters that are villains "technically," but I never saw them as a real threat in the story. They were just teenage hoods. In my fan fic they've out grown a lot of that behavior... well, sort of, anyway. They run a chain of local weed dispensaries and occasionally get into bar fights, still.
I wanted Buttercup to still be cute, but have a certain toughness to her with kind of an athletic build. I picture her as running a local gym, being kind of a fitness influencer sponsored by a couple of whey protein brands, and collecting athletic shoes.
As for Ace, I just discovered recently that the videos for the band Gorillaz are set in the same universe as the Powerpuff Girls. Apparently one of the band members knows Craig McCracken, so references have been made back and forth between the music videos and the PPG. Including, having Ace be Gorillaz's bass player temporarily. Seriously. Don't believe me? Look it up, the lore is kind of fascinating.
Anyway, I decided to give tribute to this by making him a bass player in my story. I colored his bass guitar in similar shades to the colors he wore in the original series.
