“How are you feeling today?”
“Much better.” The pills made her feverish and a little light-headed. Her hands stayed clasped together in her lap- to try and hide the shaking. She attempted to smile gently and radiate a calm façade but feared her dilated pupils would give her away.
“Any new side effects? Nausea? Trouble sleeping?”
“Nothing new. I’m…feeling a little anxious, I guess, but no more than usual.”
Dr. Baron nodded. “That’s pretty common. Should only last a day or two. I’m more concerned with visual side effects. Any sensitivity to light? Colors brighter than usual?”
She almost laughed. The sky was green today. Her hands were yellow and blue. The doctor had tentacles instead of fingers but she wouldn’t tell him that. She liked these side effects- craved them. That was the whole point, and that’s why she answered, “No.”
