Description Why does this look like some kind of bizarre steampunk gun?

Battlefield 1 was made by DICE.

Huot Automatic Rifle

A machinegun developed for the Canadian armed forces by Joseph Huot, created by converting the Ross rifle into a fully-automatic weapon.
Despite the resulting weapon being ugly, having horrendous ergonomics and only capable of firing in full-auto, it was 20 times cheaper than the Lewis Gun, sturdy and reliable and was well received by the soldiers who used it.
The Canadian Army adopted the weapon and put an order for 5000 rifles.
However, the war ended before any of the weapons could be put into service. Of the 5 known to have been built, only 4 are known to still remain today.

Many people think the Huot is ugly. I say it's unusual but beautiful for a conversion type automatic rifle. Some Mannlichers and Enfields were converted too. None look as good as the Huot.

I do love how it looks, it certainly fared better than the Charleston rifle

Definitly. It was one of the best takes for an automatic rifle in ww1 in my opinion.

wow, didnt know any canadian guns were in BF1. it does look a bit steampunk-ish. also, more people have probably used this gun in BF1 then the amount of guns made in real world

Only 5 were made and only 4 still exist today.

More people have worked on this gun in DICE than real ones were made, let alone people whoΒ played with it.

Nobody knows, for all we know it's sitting on some basement catching dust.

Fuck, one of the J8M planes was hidden in a cave until the 1960s.

acesflyinghigh.files.wordpress…

It was hidden in 1945 and only discovered in the 60s. I assume they hid it since they did not have time to destroy it.

You are thinking of the Me 163 Komet. This is a Japanese copy of it, although it has small improvements, notably it lacks the retarded mini-propeller the Komet has at the front.
