I pretty much always make the figures up, but I tried to use a photo as a discipline for practice for this one which actually based off of this chap:Β

OK. Nicely rendered...

But you could add a moustache.
I'm kidding of course...

The rifleman was so good that it shaved the moustache with a bullet?

Book then TV show, yes. It's a famous TV show in Britain from the 1990's about the 95th Rifles during the Peninsular War. I think it's pretty much where Sean Bean became famous. I used to watch it on repeat every single day as a kid

There is a kind of black-out on TV in France about the Napoleon era.
And seing French soldiers shot like pigeons like this, not a chance this show is broadcasted in France...

To be honest I was always annoyed it's never taught at school in Britain, especially considering the era really set the thread for the next century. I have assumed it's not taught in Britain to kids because essentially you are being taught of a Monarchist state destroying a new Republic one.Β

Sadly that was the disastrous fate for France overstretching its Empire to Spain and Portugal, but you'll be happy to know the series isn't bias, the villains and heroes are equal for both France and Britain.

Unfortunately, there is a huge void in history teaching in France: one century. Everything that happened between the rise of Bonaparte and WWI, except the Commune in 1848 (a 2nd revolution), is almost not taught.
A huge majority of history teachers is socialist, communist or worse. Democracy being the dictatorship of majority, this seems explain that.

There was a great French made drama, mini-series on Napoleon, played byΒ ChristianΒ Clavier, a few years ago.
