Description
Short Story:
It was a beautiful, clear day in the Vale of Whispers, and two Felvargs were out on the outskirts of the Vale, enjoying the sun. Eir was found by Elisif and Caius on a hunt, and brought back to the pack’s camp. They found no trace of the little pup’s parents, so they decided to raise her themselves. She was about seven moons old now, and her energy was all over the place. She was bashful, but loved to play and it exhausted all her pack members to play with her for as long as she could. Today was a bit different, Farkas had brought her to the Vale since he thought she’d like to see the beautiful fields of flowers and the pine trees, and she went off to play a hunting game by herself, since the grass was almost as tall as her when she crouched down to get into a hunter’s stalk.
Eir bounded about the flowery fields, pouncing on the flowers every once in awhile. She crouched down and pretended to hunt through the grass, and compared to her small puppy self the grass grew over her head. Her ears flicked away at the grass that poked them, and she had to keep herself from sneezing as the smell of the flowers got into her nose. She pounced on some grass and pulled a stalk into her mouth, pretending that she caught a mouse, holding her head high proudly. She looked beyond her and saw Farkas looking out into the distance, letting the grass stalk fall out of her mouth. She readied herself, crouching low to the ground and weaving slowly through the grass. Her paws carried her softly through the field, avoiding any dry stalks that would crack under her small paws. A breeze ruffled her fur, and it was going down wind, hiding her scent, so she continued stalking towards Farkas, trying to keep her tail from moving too muc. Her silky fur picked up some small pieces of grass, but they just were raked out as she moved through more dry and stiff grass, and soon she was only a fox length away from Farkas. His tail moved slightly, whisking through the grass, catching her attention. She bunched her little haunches and jumped out of the grass, and pouncing on Farkas’s tail with a loud bark of excitement. Farkas barely noticed at the last second and he yipped in surprise, feeling his tail pinch as Eir bit onto it. Eir grabbed some of his tail in her mouth and grinned at Farkas.
“My my, what a little hunter you’ve become.” Farkas said warmly. Eir smiled at his compliment and she pounced on him, wrestling him as if he were a fish. Farkas laughed and grabbed Eir by the scruff and setting her down in front of him. He flicked up a few flowers with his paw for Eir to catch, Farkas watched her leap up to get the falling petals. They played Varg and moose until Farkas had to carry a sleepy Eir back to the den, worn out from all the hunting adventures in the valley. Eir was going to tell a lot of stories to Elisif and Caius when she wakes up though, wanting to impress them of how good of a hunter she’s become.
