Hahaha, I've had this idea in my head for the longest time, yo! XDQuite a puzzling concept... I've always wondered about that crazy mystery about whether or not Ghost-Type Pokemon can die... I think they can't, being ghosts and all, even if it might not make sense. Maybe some dual Ghost-Types, like maybe Sableye, can, but those with less of a physical form, such as, well, Gengar, cannot. :3
And there's a Pokedex entry on Haunter that says, "Because of its ability to slip through block walls, it is said to be from another dimension." SO! That's where Gengar got that little hypothesis from. :3
One of my friends think that, although they're Ghost-Types, they are still capable of death like any other type... But then his theory gets all weird and confusing, even a bit contradicting in a way and shtuffz, so... Yeah. XD;

Well, at the same time, Ghastly and its evolution line are basically just balls of poisonous gasses. Maybe they dissipate after a time?

They're not reanimated dead or anything, just... malevolent balls of PokΓ©meat and gas and whatnot, so they can probably die just the same as other things.

you know...by now i just assumed ghost pokemon can die like everyone else,they just get the privilege of being stubborn and deciding not to go to the afterlife.i figured that out cuz VB(my banette character if you don't remember) really did die.after...about a minute of life.maybe two.so he's actually -7 years old

Sanura and Akuji? Weeeell, it all started when I first got Pokemon Mystery Dungeon... The personality test deemed me a Skitty, and Gengar was the main antagonist of the story. Therefore, I took it from there and branched off with a new story after the main events of the game~

Because otherwise if they CAN die, it'd totally screw up Kigeki's carefully-planned-out character! D8

I also think that humans are also sometimes reborn as Pokemon, if they were overly bad in their past lives. It would explain Gengar, 'cause they never actually said he was cursed, too. Bulbapedia says that it twas just Ninetail's prediction... >3> *twilight mystery music**hit*

After a bit of thinking, I came to the theory that...they are immortal, and so can be killed. Meaning they could live endlessly and agelessly on their own, but they are still capable of being killed by an outside force, such as strong Dark type attacks and such. |D
Indeed, that makes sense. As for their memory of their past life...it may vary from person to person, yes?
