Description She sat at her window, watched the sky intently. She longed with all her heart to see the boy that crept into her window and stole her away, away from the tall buildings that would one day hold her captive. Away from the people that fought for nothing, her parents that only saw a future and finally from whom she would have to be.

The night grew cold and clouds sheltered the stars, a part of her wished she saw the night sky that way every time she looked upon them, as that way she could have a flitting chance of forgetting him. She curled her feet underneath her and tried to stay warm refusing to leave the sill. She traced the timber of the windowpane; she knew every impression, every graze, as she had traced it every night since her return. It had been months since she had flown the crystal air of Neverland, since the only thing more desired then a story was for just one glance between her and peter.

As the seasons changed so did she, although her innocent face remained the same, the look in her eyes had grown colder and a sharp sense of knowledge had developed and devoured what was left of the kiss hidden in corner of her lip. She knew by now that peter would not come back for her, and soon after realized, that never land did not mean to never grow up, but to never return. The moon shone through the room lighting Wendy’s skin, and for a moment she seemed completely unharmed, not a hair out of place, not a scent that did not belong…she sat her head against the window her hands folded tightly around her knees. And for the second, just a second she was gone. There she flew, her hand in his, the night’s sky forming a shadow behind there tightly grasped bodies... the dust flew around them like a cyclone of enchantment. He smiled at her with a smirk both adoring and mischievous and with cheeks of crimson she tilted her head close enough that his shoulder now supported it. He tighten his grip around her and there they lingered between space and time where nothing and no one could ever harm them. You see… to Wendy that was the closest in her fifteen years of life see had come to love.

Suddenly she woke and back by the sill she sat. a tear fell down her perfectly lit face, dropping onto her nightgown. It was that night, Wendy stopped waiting for peter. It was but a few nights later that a young man seemed to float from the sky and onto her small balcony. Like a feather unheard he landed. He took a step towards her, she slept in the very same bed she always had…suddenly his foot slipped ever so slightly against the scratched timber. Catching his grip he looked beneath his base, and carved deeply into its grain were the words. ‘it’s all pretend isn’t it?’ he lowered down towards the window panel tracing the carvings over and over with the tips of his fingers. He looked up and around the room… everything had changed,  everything had aged or evolved, everything but him. It was that moment he come to the conclusion that Wendy would never come back with him and it would never be the same. He had lost the one thing he felt for, because of the one thing he refused to become. he wished he could wake her, hold her tight…hold her and never let her go. But peter knew better then that. For as young as he seemed naive he was not. He had hurt her enough, and that intern proved, that he did not did not deserve her. Wendy would never see him again…but he would see her. He would watch her slowly forget neverland, slowly forget how to fly, and he would watch her forget him, that was the way it would have to be. For although he loved her, he knew it would not be enough. For love of a boy was nothing compared to the love of a man, and that was all that he would ever be… just a boy.

Peter Pan is the saddest story ever told! But that's the reason why I love it so much. I love your choice of words. Poetry. Especially the end: "he would watch her forget him, that was the way it would have to be. (...) that was all that he would ever be… just a boy."
*sob* sad, but perfect!
