I find this image very striking, like it's crying out (literally) for a story. You could write a whole movie about this character and how she ended up like this, and what's going to happen next.
A second glance almost has me thinking she's laughing, which only makes the image more disturbing.

Not sure the title fits the piece, schizophrenia would be more appropriate. Schizoid personality disorder is a disorder related to isolation and lack of social needs. This doesn't really have anything to do with it.
Great picture though, the effect is astounding.

I'm well aware of what the term "schizoid" means. It's the archaic term for Antisocial Personality Disorder, but has become common slang for just being insane, which is why I chose it.

Wasn't that term outdated 20 years ago?

For APD? Yes, it was. Precisely why I called it archaic.

I think the PD you were going for were Schizophrenia and not Schizoid.
Though I'd opt to say this screams masochism to be frank. Still, wonderful effects.

Schizoid is an archaic term for Schizophrenic.
π: 0 β©: 2
V4Lyz In reply to PlaceboFX [2011-04-14 10:00:44 +0000 UTC]
Never heard of it being used in relation to Schizophrenia, even after most of my life having to do with it. Still, I'll take your word for it, I'm sure you understand the confusion however.

PlaceboFX In reply to V4Lyz [2011-04-14 19:55:26 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, it was a pretty obscure term.
I've always had a fascination with 16th-19th century medicine, and so I have countless books filled with old treatments, obsolete terms, etc.
