Description Once drove a surfer to sunset
There were bikinis and buns filled with weenies
Believe me, just couldn't forget

Pico, lets go up to Zuma
Pico, lets go up to Zuma
From Zuma to Yuma the rumor was I had a hand in the lay of the land
Get up and go hit the highway

2007? 2008? I can't even remember. Done with Artrage

Half-Dude said it all, really!! Stinky Cheese Man? Yes, it does remind me of those illustrations, too...which is a very good thing! This is haunting, affecting, eerie, depressing, foreboding...and I love it. What a way to convey those emotions!!

Wow this is amazing man! It's a shame this is buried under like 15 pages of BLT related art.. wow what a gem. Ernie's Disposal is my favorite part of the movie, the most emotional I think.. I feel so bad for all those cars, used, abused, then dumped, waiting for their number to come up. : (

I really love all the extra details you added, and it's cool you like the Surfer Woodie too. Your style, no offense meant, reminds me kind of like the art in that book 'the stinky cheese man' for some reason. I love the detail you added, like all the extra stuff around her break pad and such.. the extra shading and rust, the rood grains in her side-panels. I also like how you made that big surfboard more loose and beat-down looking..rally good work on the cracks in her 'eyes' too!

The background is pretty awesome too, all the piles with random exhast pipes and such sticking out dangerously. The piles of cars with their wide eyes staring blankly into space..almost kinda creepy. It's kinda cool how you changed the boom on the crane to kind of an older style looking one, adds to the creepiness.

I guess from this you probably really like this scene too. You might be interested in the little series I'm doing actually. I'm drawing these cars from the worthless song, but back in the past when they were cherry and new, and in the love and care of their owners doing their thing.. I think you'd like it. : ) So far I got the Surfer-Woodie and the Red Sports Car. I think I'm doing the Pink 50s Convertible and the Indie racer next. ^^

Hah! Thanks. Yes, this was a fun one to do, though looking back it does seem a little muddy and I do get an itch to give it another treatment in Artrage, see what I could do for it now! I did quite enjoy blt as a wee Pkunkling, and laud any attempt to give the cardudes a series! I remember even modelling the worldweary truck from the end of the song in clay. I think it's still in a box somewhere, disturbingly enough.

Maybe, but I think that kind abstract muddiness kind of gives it the right feel for the piece. I mean when you think of Ernie's Disposal, what do you think of? Maybe a rainstorm? Piles of garbage, oil, bent metal. All lying on a muddy field with patches of weeds and grass here and there. So in that respect.. I think 'muddy' is the perfect feeling for this picture.

But if you wanted to do it again and maybe add even MORE detail to it that'd be awesome! :3

We used to watch this movie all the time when I was little. Recently we dug it up out of nostalgia and I realized how sad some of the scenes are, especially for a goofy children's cartoon.

It was definitely a childhood favourite for me as well I'll sometimes go through some favourite clips and songs from it every now and then. The junkyard scene being my favourite, of course!

The best thing about having done this painting is finding all the messages from people who've also really been effected, one way or another, by this movie.

Totally radical surfer cars never die, they only, like fade away, man. :>
