IDK I was bored one day so I went on one of those scene creator things...

BEHOLD MY LAME STORYTELLING:
Sonic was captured by Eggman and can't escape! Tails decides to go look for him. Of course Cream comes along, looking for a fun adventure. Amy comes as well, to make sure they don't get hurt (and because she was told to look after Cream for Vanilla.) Knuckles stayed behind because he knew that Sonic would escape on his own, but mostly because he was being a lazy butt. Not long after the Trio set out, they are confronted by Team Chaotix and Shadow! They were sent by Eggman to make sure none of Sonic's friends found him! ((This was when I didn't know much about Chaotix and thought they worked for Eggman wow I was so stupid...)) This is when the scene above comes in. Amy is apparently freaked out by Shadow, even though he didn't do anything yet. Charmy and Espio are chasing Cream, who is having lots of fun messing with them. And Tails is pissed that Vector won't tell him where Sonic is.
