Common elements: Water and all sub-types, Sand and Clay
Hereditary magic: Can inherit magic from parents, but rarely Fire element.
Elemental weaknesses/resistances: Weak to Fire element, as it dries out their gills. Individuals who spend a long time on warm, sandy beaches can build up a resistance to drying out and can even appreciate sun bathing!
Common locations: Waters around Heaven’s Keys, in shipwrecks. Less hardy ones like to live in Luxury Cove and join the tourists on the beach. Found in cCoastal areas all around Owel.
Climate preference: Damp and rainy places, hot and humid places, very adept under water.
Sentience: Most Marrella are capable of higher-level thinking, such as the ability to plan ahead, to reason, rationalize, and to understand abstract concepts and principles. Some, usually ones remote from society in the depths of the ocean, are more feral.
Language: They have their own language, Deep Sea, but can learn common as well as others.
Trivia: Can be pests in coastal areas, but are good for cleaning up waste from fishing vessels and daytrippers alike.
