Description i imagine the Hwenti as being the least settled of the Avari, living as nomads and building few structures, relying on natural caves, or groves of trees, much like Woodhall in the Shire.

in addition to modern reconstructions of Ice Age hunters, most of my ideas of the Hwenti are based on the Nandor, although rather than primitive vegetarian forest elves, i imagine the hwenti as delighting in the hunt and following herds of wild game across the wide steppes of Rhûn.

i also envision of them as a great friend to beasts, keeping tamed hawks and wolves and other animals that aid them in the hunt.   i also like the idea of elves keeping large wolves, almost as a counterpoint to the wargs, although i admit its a bit incongrous to the greater mythological fabric of Middle earth and the role that wolves usually occupy (although i would also like to point out that the evil wolves of sauron et. al.  are wolf bodies possessed by fell spirits, rather than just animals with a bad reputation)
so i think of the hwenti occupying a lot of the wildman/noble savage archetype.  making few objects and living with the rhythms of nature moreso than any other elven kindred.

Very interesting thoughts. It is quite intriguing to think about the culture and lifestyles of the Avari.

yeah!  its been my pet project for the last couple months, and its been a lot of fun.  one thing i noticed is that the Avarin languages have a division much like the Centum-Satem divide in the indo-european family (where the 'K' sound is kept as in Cuind, Kindi and Kinn-lai vs where the 'K' sound is dropped or aspirated as in Windan, Hwenti, Penni, and that the sound changes in the Hwenti language follow the same sound changes as the germanic languages as they diverged from Proto Indo-european.  im pretty sure this is some of tolkien's linguist humor

Great observation! I'm sure this was intentional by Tolkien.

I had time without reading the name Hwenti, I liked the concept/design... and I think the wolves are a great idea!
