Here we come to one of my first pet peeves, and it isn't even a consistent one. Charizard using Flamethrower here? The fire is covered with lines.

Now, this was a relic of the past, something I used to do with my old comics, was surround literally anything, gases, liquids, solids, energy, you name it, with lines. The problem was that not only did it cause everything to look the same, but you might not actually be able to tell what it is.

To the untrained eye, Charizard is either firing off a Flamethrower or roaring at a river of lava in the desert.
