This one took days to work on... something from history...

This is my depiction of Roman-era gladiator combat using Mario characters and mostly bad guys... this pic is inspired by the 1872 painting "Pollice Verso" by Jean-Léon Gérôme.

Seated in the center is the triumvirate. They include Magnus Spiritus, Bowserius Rege Vivarius, and Gaius Timidus (or Caesar Guy).

The gladiator Birdo defeated the other gladiators and the spectators are calling on the gladiator to finish off the defeated opponent. Bowserius is about to give the final signal...

notes: I didn't want to draw so many characters in the background so I just drew circles and colored them, then blurred them... the stone pattern was a bit complicated to pull off for the Colosseum background. I had to find some form of Bowser's emblem... once I found one, I had to invert the colors so the main emblem's color is black.
