Description Really got into this doodle. I wanted to call it the Raven King, but apparently there's a character from a book that has already snagged that title.

Ich muss für meine Prüfung studieren. =3=

It's so beautiful but he kinda looks a bit thoughtful to me.

And the Raven King. Haha, yes, have you read Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell?

He's supposed to look thoughtful. Did I do good?

No, I just heard of it. I usually google what I want to title my stuff to make sure there's nothing with the name already.

You did better than good! You did great!

And it's a great book. I think you might like it. I love the way she handles the Fae.

Have you experienced this problem on any other deviations you've tried to look at? It keeps happening to me.

Where in Germany did you grow up? I've visited several times, but never for very long.

In Sachsen-Anhalt. Somewhere around Leipzig That's former east-germany, I think Anyway, there are a lot of lovely little villages, ridiculously low prices, and overall friendly people. It's really a great area

He does have that regal aristocratic air about him. I like it a lot, what medium did you use for this?

PhantomSeptember In reply to Musashi-Twist [2010-09-22 05:28:53 +0000 UTC]

Just a 2b mechanical pencil. My scanner hates pencil and likes to eat it though.

Wow, that's more than impressive. I'd love to see a tutorial from you sometime on how you do things.

What kinda tutorial? All I do is draw lines...

Musashi-Twist In reply to PhantomSeptember [2010-09-23 04:55:58 +0000 UTC]

Heck, I don't know. But I'm still curious as to how you get such good line work with pencil media, as that's what I've been trying to brush up on recently, so really any advice would be appreciated.

Practice helps a ton, but it's still good to learn from the artists you admire n'est pas?

Ich spreche kein französisch. XD

Like... how I get it so dark? Usually I just sketch it all up and then go over it again as if I were inking, but I just go over it with a pencil and bear down harder. Then I clean up the picture with an eraser and then scan it. Adjusting the contrast in Photoshop can help, if the scanner eats it too bad. My scanner hates pencil, and usually ends up not picking up on most of my shading. Normally I don't do just pencil... usually I ink it, since ink is more permanent and less messy than pencil.
