I might as well get started on my headcannon, after all, that is why I'm on devantart

Ok, so unicorns...

Of the three current pony races, unicorns are the weakest. They are very suitable to physical diseases, disorders (like OCD), and harm of all kinds and they heal slowly without the aid of magic. But for all that, unicorns have the most destructive power and magical range of all the pony breeds, and at a distance, are weapons of almost siege engine-like destruction. A powerful unicorn is capable of astounding feats. Physically strong unicorns like Shining Armor are very rare. Unicorns have Arab-like builds with thickish necks, and the skull is rather thick at the top where the horn attaches. The horn itself is smooth, strong, and spiraled (the spiral helps transfer magic, if a unicorn doesn't have that spiral for some reason they can't do magic as well). Colors tend to be purples, pinks, and blues or other unnatural colors ( greens and browns denote earth pony heratige, yellows, grays, and sky blues suggest pegasus heritage) . The horn and hooves are the same color as the coat.

As for the characters themselves...

Twilight Sparkle, the element of magic, is unusually powerful even for unicorn standards. She is much like we see her in the show; studious, cheerful, and somewhat anti-social. She has huge amounts of magic reserves and can whip out a lot of power at one time, but she isn't the most gifted with control. Her attacks focus on one or two powerful frontal assaults. As a filly she was so powerful that she needed an alicorn babysitter (Cadence) to keep her in check. Twilight gains more power and control over the course of the story, and does become an alicorn (like the rest of the mane six; I love alicorns alright? Just warning you guys). Twi is very practical and perfectionistic, her hair is cut straight across and she is lean and somewhat wiry, but that's also because she isn't full grown, in human standards she is about seventeen or so.

Rarity Belle, the element of generosity, is the fabulous fashonista we all love, with some changes. She is even more generous than in the show, and has been know to take attacks to save her friends. While she might not have as much power as Twilight ( at least at first) she has stunning control and can move an entire room full of objects in patterns and create very convincing illusions. Rarity is also known for her diplomatic abilities; her abilities to manipulate are second to none. Rarity in battle is a sight to see, as she is famous for ripping gems out of the ground and hurling hundreds of them at foes. Rarity is white (a rare color) with a curly, thick, purple mane ( I cant draw the ridiculous curls she has in the show, so her hair is more wavy and disorganized) and she has great curves. Rares is about eighteen or so in human terms.
