I like the concept though I feel the voodoo element needs more growth over the three stages.
- As it is right now it is basically a voodoo doll getting bigger. Though elements of it are alluring like the button eyes with the cross stitching pupil and the pins. Also the darker red, tan and purple is quite unique and is working. regardless that is holding it back is the amount of concepts that help to give this fakemon set more character. Though I think pulling from mysticism and voodoo elements can help in this regard.
- Sort of a funny thing I just thought about what if the first stage was like a shrunken head pin cushion. "X" eyes with a zig zag mouth stitch, red hair / scalp patch and a pin sticking into it somewhere. XD Cute, ties in two concepts in one, and simple enough to allow room for pokemon concept growth in next stage.
- Then with the next stage you can enter in the voodoo doll concept integrating the simple body doll form. Maybe add some tribal elements or something like the doll is painted up or dyed with a vague symbol. I am not to sure about this part though I do feel if you dod more research you could find something cool to add to it.
- For the final stage I see a full blown voodoo doll witch doctor / ghost. With that you can some great variety in concept space for the styles and feelings. Maybe give it a skull mask or something like that. It would also fit the menacing nature of the final stage.
- I would also make it so the first two stages are dark types while the final stage is a dark / ghost type. As for names I think that once the concepts for the other stages take form better names will come to you.

very cool design... don't see pins as weapons ever being used in any official game (seems a bit too dark, somehow!), but looks cool all the same!

I think it depend on how they where used. I mean, we have several Pokemon with scythes...soo pins dont seem to dark.
Maybe it doesn't even use the pointing end, could just club foes with the rounded portion.

true... I know the animation for Curse (when used by Ghost types) was essentially voodoo pins, but I just can't envision a 'mon visually impaling itself every time it used psych up or something as being ok for a 3+ game, haha.
