Description This is one of my favorite shooting locations around Phoenix. The drive out to this area is just full of stunning scenery. I spent two separate evenings here working the river and cliffs, finally getting some unique light and sky the second time around. This is a pano of six vertical images. This place could be even more beautiful without all of the garbage left behind by the party animals.

Thanks man! Yeah, it is surprisingly close to the city, but far enough to enjoy some peace and quite during its off season.

Would that be Red Mountain?

No, these are the "bulldog" cliffs just below saguaro lake. Red mountain is just a few miles down river from this location.

Ah...looked a bit like Red Mountain. Haven't been there in six or seven years, though.

Yeah, they are quite close together and at an angle look similar to here.

I lived in Mesa back in 1990 and loved that part of the Salt River. When I was lived in Tucson, I always intended to get back up there to get a good shot of Red Mountain, but the light was never right while I was there.

It really is a beautiful area when it's not tubing season. Although the summers bring some magic light over there.

Gotta admit, the tubing is fun, but, yeah, the amount of garbage and such that end up in the river....

It is fun for a few times, but then you realize your floating through a lot of trash and human waste.

And after you see on the news about one or two people acquiring the flesh-eating bacteria, it kind of loses it's appeal.
