Your designs are so great. 
I've for a long time thought that handiwork can do good for a designer in general, making one appreciate the feel of texture and go out of the box while drawing as well. 
What do you think? Of course fabric designers got their own conventions, too, but I think combinations of styles always make things more interesting.

You are so right, and I have been so wrapped up in my design 'process'lately, that I've neglected my handwork. It was my New Year's resolution to work on (and finish!) some of my UFOs some of which have been languishing for 15 years! So thanks for nagging me, I need that sometimes!

I discovered scanning in bl/wh mode. It makes a huge difference!

hmm i'll have to look into that .. I usually use Corel and contrast to get my lines slightly darker.
