Sad, but wonderful. And I totally agree with you that it is important to know the artists life to understand his work. I didn't knew about his sister by the way, but I can imagine this must have had some influence on his work at some level.

His sister and his mother died from tuberculosis when he was young. He was ill too, for a short period of time. There's a great film about him, directed by Peter Watkins. Thanks for your words!!
