While we were chatting the owners of the house arrived and our little fellow ran into the house. I had that feeling that he keeps his little promise not to tell about us, but considering that came from a youngster I thought it better if we go. The harbor was empty looking so we started to look for a fancy sailboat. We found one in a nice shape. While he untied the ropes I watched the night guards. He had to row out the docks, but after that we got a wonderful wind at our back. We sailed all night and at the morning we stopped in a small harbor. I fell asleep while he gone to hunt something. It was about noon when he woke me. I get off the boat and smelled fresh meat. My stomach growled and I felt terribly hungry.
- There it is. - said Adam - One for you. And three for me. - he gave me a rabbit. It's neck was cracked and he was all furry but at that point something came over me. I ate it as it was almost all of it even the bones as well. Adam just smiled at me.
- Heh there is some blood on your nose. - he said and continued finishing his second rabbit.
After the meal he fell asleep and left me guarding the ship. I started to play with my own tail in boredom. The only good thing in this situation is this body. I love it... makes me feel so... free. I took off my shirt and my pants, and enjoyed as the wind blowed my fur. I listened the birds the waves sound on the rocks while touched myself all around. It was nothing like when I came here. At that time it was more likely a new experience but now it felt most ordinary. My muzzle the ears the tail and all the fur on my body. Like I always lived like this. I could hardly remember anything about my human form even my own face. I looked to the water's mirror and the furry face that looked back felt more mine like the skinny one that shivered me.
At sunset Adam woke and we continued our voyage. We stopped each time we felt hungry, but we moved quickly in the fats little ship. Sadly on the sixth day we had no wind so we decided to stay in a pine forest's edge.
- Now I teach you how to hunt. -said Adam as we pushed the boat to land.
- Really?! Oh my gosh... I don't know if I am ready for this.
- You are. You already know how to step without a sound, you know that I taught you on the ship. Its the same in the forest with some little difference. You also got a bit stronger under my hand. - he looked proud - So now you learn to hunt as well.
- Lead me. I'll do as you say. - my heart almost jumped out. I always wanted to hunt as a kid... But never thought that I will be a fox when I do.
- First drop off all your clothes. Than you do some limber up... you don't want to pull your legs.
- Aye aye Captain.
- Stop joking this is serious. If you want to eat something you must catch it.
Great... thanks that means if I don't catch anything which is nearly sure I won't eat in REAL. We headed into the forest, and started sniffing around. The first attempt was a astonishing failure. I ran after a rabbit and just when I thought I catched it my face landed in the ground and it went in my mouth too. The second was a deer which ran so fast that I just let her go. Adam laughed at me some point and left me "playing" as he said. It was dark when I got back to the camp. All what I catched was a mole rat, a starving squirrel and two eggs what i fond in a nest. After almost all the day running and searching they didn't satisfy me, but Adam congratulated me.
- Hey! How is our great hunter. Wow you found food. That's much better what I imagined. Maybe next time.
He had a stag but I know i mustn't ask some of it. I accepted the rules in the morning, so I went to sleep with an almost empty stomach. The fresh wind woke me, as we were on the water again.
- What the? Did we just...
- Yep! I left some of my stag for you. Must be really hungry by now. -said Adam.
