Thank you for your comment.

I was amazed how lucky I was to photograph this one on this day. I am a Union Pacific modeler (HO) and love special paints.

Further, I was amazed I was the only one around that day to photograph the Safety Special UP was operating out of Brooklyn Yard, Portland, OR.

Well...It needs to travel down the IHB when I'm out railfanning! I have the worst luck catching Heritage units! Fortunately I have original Heritage units from the 80s! Before they were Heritage Units!

I don't think UP runs many of the Heritage Units through Chicago. They usually stick them on intermodel runs bound for Yard Center.

I've just had pure luck catching what I've caught. I don't look at line up sheets or information on when these moves are coming.. I just go and enjoy what I do with the hopes I see something which surprises me for the good!

I think I usually catch fun stuff so it's not a big deal...but it would still be cool to get some!

When i think of trains in America this is what i think of
I love rail journeys, one day I would love to explore America via train.
UK Trains just don't look as if they have the long haul power that this one has, is that because we don't have to over the distances that they do in America ? I love how this one looks like a serious journey train

Thank you for your comment. Living in Oregon, I think trees make just about anything more attractive. They seem to make the locomotive come to life a little more.

And, yes. I think American locomotives are built to exude power much more than elegance these days.

Thanks again,

Marko
