Man I dont know the story behind this but it works even that way.
The gun is off perspective, the gun shoved into the picture and the colour is nowhere else in the picture too, like it doesnt belong to the picture. It kinda shows how sudden and harsh the murder happens and how it suddenly cuts into the peaceful action the victim does.
Its not part of the picture just as it isnt part of the victims life until now.

I fucking adore this, such a strange but interesting and unique take on this scene, and I love your style. The literal metaphor of Bob's yellow-bellied-ness was a perfect added touch, well done

Wonderful interpretation; I especially love the cowardly yellow that is Ford in this picture. Painted with such callousness and I think even the jealousy is conveyed in this, as only the gun is visible, and Ford really did only know Jesse from his legacy and stories, so basically his gun. The style is fantastic!

If eyecatching was what you were going for, then you certainly got it.
The coloring is sweet (nice and neat) and your stylization is super unique. Reminds me of a comic strip (the far side?). The gun wielding hand is placed perfectly for effect. Way cool.
Tells a story. Wish I knew what it was. Poor guy just wanted to adjust his picture...
