Description THis is an Apophysis rendering as a PNG transparency and layered over a dark background and a bit of added outer glow in Photoshop. This is the edited version of the initial submission for the Apophysis Theme #17 entry...indicating motion. It kind of reminded me of two colliding worlds or moons...

This is a beautiful and dynamic image! I love your choice of background! There is a real sense of dimension in this as well!

I love Apophysis, but seldom them...this is an exception.

Thank you!! I'm glad you liked it well encough to give it a . I have gotten quite addicted to the Apophysis, especially after seeing some of the great stuff done by a few users like ~Gibson125 ,
*live2b , *tdierikx , *Sophquest among others. I like to use mine in colages at times or display them on custom backgrounds like this piece. I have fun with it....but it has kind of taken over my computer hard drives these past couple of years...LOL One of those happy addictions. Thanks again for the !

My favorite Apo artist is MelonLogic. And I do fave his stuff a lot. I don't use the program too much, but have gotten a few worthwhile things with it. I used to run it all the time...then came here and was totally intimidated! Have been working with the Beta a lot and have learned a lot. Used to like the fact that you could "push" buttons and get pretty things. Then I got here and found out that was contemptible, so quit using for a long time. Plus the updated flames won't go into UF. Have to use Mark's program, which is OK by me.

I think that there were some changes in the works to make it compatible with UF mentioned in the list forum. Someone mentioned it a bit back, but I think there was a workaround there somewhere. I've never run UF, just Stephen Ferguson's applications...Sterlingware, Inkblot, Flarium, TieraZon & a couple others. I've found that narrowing down the number of variations in the batch files, which helps a lot. The new ''final transform' adds a lot to the program, too. I use Photoshop a lot on my stuff, too, to add custom backgrounds, shadows, and a bit of color tweaking at times. I've gotten a lot of helpful hints from a number of the other users of APO here at DevART and on the mailing lists. It takes a lot of practice I've found...and I can sure waste the time messing around with it,, too...LOL

I hate that list! It is so hard to find anything I can use.

patrx In reply to ArtistInWaiting [2006-07-20 15:46:58 +0000 UTC]

LOL It is hard sifting through a lot of it, isn't it? I saved a lot of the early stuff that was most helpful. I generally delete anything I can't use.

I just went there and did a couple of searches and found 1 thing that I might be able to use...then spent 1/2 an hour deleting the rest of the stuff! Would leave the list but they keep making new versions! I get better help here on DA than I get off the list. But once in a while someone puts in an enlightening statement. Have to admit the programmers are good about answering questions...if you know what to ask!

Yup...quite a few of them are here on DevART, too. So, it's an easy access to them here instead of on the lists. I skim through the notes on the lists every once in a while and often get ideas for new stuff to try. So, in a way, it still pays to visit now and then..LOL

Sometimes though I think going UFs list might be better, for me anyhow. Hope this beta stays around for a while, tired of having to update all the time! I'm getting a little sick of the animation folks. Think they could use their own version! That way the rest of us would only have to dl new tranformations!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

patrx In reply to ArtistInWaiting [2006-07-21 18:27:39 +0000 UTC]

I've never messed around with the animation bit. Playing with the APO is plenty for me. I can't remember what the beta version I began using...it was pretty early on. So, I've been messing with Apophysis for some time now.....at least since I upgraded to the Pentium processor machines which were relatively faster than my older machines. And....my computer still isn't fast enough..LOL Never satisfied..LOL If I had the money, I think I'd be buying a new machine every time something faster came on the market...LOL Oh, well, back to playing with APO...

ArtistInWaiting In reply to patrx [2006-07-21 23:32:11 +0000 UTC]

I don't even know how to upload an animation! But really should try one here. I have been taking mini-film type screen captures that I upload to a photo site. File size is so restrictive, that I lose a lot because I have to cut out so much. But I would really like to know why someone would animate an Apo?! What is there to animate?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

patrx In reply to ArtistInWaiting [2006-07-22 01:04:19 +0000 UTC]

Some images look neat when animated....it's like running through the ''default animation'' on a selected image. Some look neat as they rotate the 360ΒΊ through the flame.

ArtistInWaiting In reply to patrx [2006-07-22 14:31:54 +0000 UTC]

I've seen rotations done in another programs. Do the flames rotate on the 2D or 3D planes. I've always wanted to work with Zeno-something or another. or is that Xara something or another, anywho makes 3d fractals. and rotates them.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

patrx In reply to ArtistInWaiting [2006-07-22 15:38:40 +0000 UTC]

I think the ''sheep'' rotate in the 2D plane. There is one that rotates in the 3D that was shared in the lists. It was something called Flame 3D I can't remember from where I downloaded it, but it is no longer working...something got corrupted in the program so that I can't open it to find the info about it. Drat!! I'll look back in the lists to see if I can find the info...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ArtistInWaiting In reply to patrx [2006-07-22 18:03:44 +0000 UTC]

Hmmm, I've never run the Sheep script! Something else to do in my "spare" time! Really should take time to learn scripting. Yeah, right, put that one on the "before I die" list!

I guess that part of Apo never interested me, though I did visit the site and view a few of them. My 'net connection is a bit slow for sending and viewing them. It just takes too long for them to load. So, I'll just stick to my artwork...LOL

Me too. Visited the site, but never really wanted to put my stuff up. Which is probably why I never did, but sometimes curiosity sets in!

Anyway, awesome looking fractal

The piper was this weird big yellow ball thing that blew a pipe and entertained the spirits of dead children until they were ready to go to the afterlife. He usually had his eyes sort of squinted, but if he opened his eyes fully, it meant the child was going to be sent to hell.

Thank you! I only wish this version was legal for the theme competition...LOL It's not so 'plain' as the legal version is. My 'mods' really brought the image out. I have it on my desktop, now, as a wallpaper.

Wish I could have entered this in the ''Theme'' this week, but a few of the edits were on the no-no list in the rules... I liked how this came out. I don't know if I should have done more to the background layer, though. Who knows, I might think of something yet....LOL

I already have the entry in this week. I was juust wishing that I could have used some of the edits that I used on this piece on the Theme entry. But, then I'd get disqualified with this version...LOL ... in my reading of the rules.
