Younger Princess Celestia. Before she was princess.The reason I didn't put the cutie mark, is that she haven't received the duty of raising the sun yet. It's not like as a filly, she can go like "Abra Kadabra! I command the sun to rise!" And boom. It rises. I read in the book "The Diary of the 2 princesses" that she and Luna had been chosen by star swirl the bearded as the 2 new princesses of Equestria, and when she rose the sun, she received her cutie mark. I have no idea how she was born an alicorn.

The Journal of the Two Sisters, you mean? She was born an alicorn because her parents were alicorns. I think the G1 princess ponies had to transfer the magic from the Heart of Ponyland into themselves because they needed that magic to defeat some bad guy and that's how they became alicorns. Celestia and Luna are descended from them. But the G1 princesses took too much magic out of the Heart of Ponyland, causing nature to stop working on its own. That's why alicorns raise the sun and moon and pegasi control the weather and the earth ponies have to make the plants grow. The Heart of Ponyland somehow turned into the Tree of Harmony. The reason the Everfree Forest works right is because the Tree of Harmony has enough magic left to keep the area around it working. Celestia thought it was controlling and containing the Everfree Forest, but she was wrong. The Tree of Harmony is what allows the Everfree Forest to exist.
