My Mystic O.C.

UrKa was once called The Illuminator for his beautiful illustrations. But when he realized that the Skeksis were determined to influence and change the Gelfling’s old ways, UrKa took the name The Knowledge Guardian, his mission: to preserve the knowledge of the ancient Gelfling, so that future generations would be able to see an accurate picture of their ancestors.

This mission soon included the Podlings, and then spread to the tails sung on the wind and the murmurs of the trees that most others could not hear. Sometimes he would sit for hours in the forest and just listen.

Then came the time when the Gelfling rebelled against the Skeksis and were in danger of becoming extinct. UrKa tried to help the Gelfling, in his own way, but in the end, he realized they would inevitably be defeated. UrKa gathered up all his scrolls and the books of the Gelfling and hid them in a cave near the Valley of the Mystics, constructing a door that could only be opened by a Mystic, or Gelfling. Keeping the ways of the Gelfling safe so one day Jen would be able to rebuild the Gelfling civilization.

The Dark Crystal belongs to Jim Henson, and the Frouds.
